Happy Halloween!

I have never loved Halloween, I hate dressing up myself, but I have loved dressing up my kids. It's so much fun! I though Jack was the cutest thing ever!

Making Cookies

Lauren and Rachel came over to help us decorate Halloween cookies this week. I should have made the cookies first so they were all ready for Lauren and Emma to decorate, but they had fun helping, it just made a really big mess!

Sick Day

Jack was so good, he slept in the swing most of the day!

Finally.... some sleep!

Yesterday Emma had croup again.  This is the fifth time she has had it since June, so I am really sick of it!  The poor girl usually is fine when she goes to bed, and then wakes up in the night barely able to breathe.  It is so sad.  Anyway...this time I set up a tent, put the humidifier and a dvd player in it and Emma hung out in there for most of the day.  When she first woke up in the middle of the night she was hysterical, which makes her breathing even worse.  I tried to get her to eat a popsicle or ice cream or frozen orange juice (cold things can help make the breathing better) but she was too upset to have anything.  So I took her for a drive which sometimes calms her down, and the cold air is good for her too.  We went to a Mac's and got a slurpee, which she also wasn't too interested in.  She's only had a slurpee once before, this past summer with her cousins, the Boston Kelly's.  So I reminded her of that, and told her that Maren, Dallin, Spencer and Lauren all liked slurpees and that she should try it.  That convinced her.  I also helped her say a prayer asking to help calm her down and get feeling better.   In the morning when she was feeling a bit better, the first thing she said was "Mom, can you get up and get me ice cream?" and then " Where is Jesus?  He made me feel better."  It was too cute.  She also really enjoyed her "sippee" (that's what she thought the slurpee was called.)

jack

Jack's blessing day, this is the best family photo we could get
                                                         first little smile on camera
not too happy, but looking cute all dressed up
the kids dressed in some cute Halloween clothes

Just to be fair, I thought I should add some pictures of Jack too!

This photo was suppose to be with the last post, but I couldn't get it to download for some reason.

Little Miss Princess

Emma has definitely entered the Princess phase.  She is obsessed with Ariel, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and anything to do with princesses.  She would like to live in a princess dress.  She likes to eat, sleep and play in them.  I love it, I think it is so cute seeing her all dressed up, although she is not as sweet and angelic as she looks.  Actually, she's kind of a monster lately... so it's a good thing she's cute!  I've always wanted to take her to Disneyland while she is little, now I can't wait. She would have so much fun meeting the princesses.  Hopefully she is still in the Princess phase by the time we can actually afford to go to Disneyland!  In the meantime, the Cinderella and Little Mermaid dvd's are helping to keep me sane.

Happy Birthday Grandpa!!

Today is my Grandpa's 81st birthday.  He is my only grandparent still living, so it is always great to see him.  We were lucky to have him come visit this weekend for my cousins wedding and he got to meet Jack for the first time.  Emma and Jack are his first great grandchildren, so he thinks they are pretty special, and Emma always has a fun time playing with Great Grandpa.  Happy Birthday Grandpa!  Here's the only photo I got of them this weekend,  unfortunately Emma looks like an orphan.

More of Baby Jack

Emma always calls Jack "Baby Jack" so I find myself doing the same.  He is 17 days old now, and he's a very sweet little guy.  Here's some of my favorite photos from the past 2 weeks.

First Day of Preschool

                                                                  Ready for school

                                                                     her new backpack

                                                                            at school

Emma started preschool two days after we brought Jack home, so I just got around to posting photos now.  She goes twice a week, and seems to be having lots of fun so far.  It's a nice break for me, two hours to do errands without her, or spend time with just Jack.  She did cry and cling to me the first few days I left her, which broke my heart, but I was so tired and really needed the break from her, so I quickly got past feeling guilty.  Last time I took her she didn't cry at all!  I love asking her what she did in school today and hearing her talk about her teacher and her new friends, and always about the snack.

                                                                         Grass.... finally!!!
after a bad fall down the concrete steps
Emma and Parker at the hotel in Kalispell
                                                                    shopping in Target

                                                    playing with Sheena's dog, Digger

Well, obviously I'm not very dedicated to my blog... but I thought I would at least post afew photos from our summer.  We've had lots of fun, we didn't take a family vacation this summer, as Mike and I went to Hawaii in January, and he has been very busy landscaping for the past few months, so we didn't want him to take time off from that.  Emma and I made two trips to Kalispell, Montana, once with Danielle and Parker, and once with my mom and Grandpa Bernard.  We had lots of fun both times, shopping at Target, visiting family and playing at Glen Lake.
Back in Calgary, we have spent some days at the beach with cousins, and made afew trips to the zoo with friends.  Emma loves swimming, even though she is a big chicken.  Almost everyday she asks if she can go swimming with Daddy.
I finished working on July 18, and have been enjoying my time at home with Emma. (most days anyway, sometimes I think I should still be working so I don't go crazy!)
Mike has been getting some work done in our yard, which is great after having just mud for more than a year.  Hopefully we can get it finished off before winter!
We've also moved Emma into a big girl bed this summer, and unsuccessfully tried to potty train her.  She is SO stubborn and it has really been a power struggle, so it's been very discouraging, but I'm still trying!
In July, all the Kelly's were here in Calgary for a visit, which was probably the highlight of our summer.  It is so fun to see all of the cousins playing together so well, and even though Emma is pretty young, her older cousins are very good to her and she adores them all, as well as her Auntie's, Uncles and especially Grandma and Grandpa.  She has one cousin, Lauren who is just afew weeks older than her, and I loved watching them play together, they had a bit of a love-hate relationship (mostly because Emma does not like to share at all) but Emma hasn't stopped talking about her since they went back to Boston, so I know she misses her and had fun.
So there's a little recap of afew things we have done this summer, and a whole bunch of pictures. I will try to do better with my blogging... but I am having a baby in three weeks, so I'm thinking I'm not going to have a lot of time!
